Advisor: Kerry M. Empey, PharmD, PhD

Madeline completed her B.S. in Microbiology from Michigan State University and her PharmD from the University of Michigan. After completing a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Michigan, Madeline began her PhD studies in Clinical Pharmaceutical Sciences at Pitt in 2019. Her research focuses on the infant immune response to RSV following maternal immunization, and how the mucosal immune system contributes to protection as well as disease pathology.

I am interested in the study of the tissue resident T cell (TRM) response to RSV infection and the impact of various factors including age and medication use on their quantity and function. Furthermore, I am interested in defining the role of maternal immunization on the subsequent development of TRMs, and how these cells respond to secondary RSV challenge.
