Reason for attending
I gravitated towards this program due to the variety of inpatient and outpatient experiences that it offers. I also appreciated that Shadyside is a community hospital. The interview, however, confirmed that I was highly interested in matching to this program. My interviewers were welcoming, kind, and the type of professionals I envisioned myself working with as a resident. I am looking forward to strengthening my relationships with my co-resident, preceptors and the providers at the institution in addition to gaining experience in research and teaching/precepting. This program has a highly supportive RPD and preceptor group that is always pushing for their residents to succeed. Having this support and the opportunity to learn and practice pharmacy at a community hospital that is very accepting and respectful of pharmacists is what renders the PGY-1 program at Shadyside an attractive program.
