The 12th annual Dr. Gordon J. Vanscoy White Coat Ceremony was held on January 31, 2014 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum in Oakland. One hundred thirteen first year pharmacy students participated in the first step into their professional career of pharmacy. This symbolic event marks the entry of first-year pharmacy students into a profession committed to serving humanity. Students are individually garbed in a white clinician’s coat, the symbol of clinical service and care. The oath of the pharmacist was recited by students and all pharmacist present at the ceremony.
A reception was held afterwards at the William Pitt Student Union Assembly Room where family and friends shared in this moment of pride and celebration.
