Drug Take Back Day Becoming An Successful Semiannual Event

The University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy is very pleased to announce that  270 pounds of old, expired, and unused medications were collected from the community at the spring Drug Take Back Day, April 20, 2017 held at Nordenberg Hall’s University Pharmacy. Since 2015, 1,385 pounds of medication have been collected from the University of Pittsburgh's Drug Take Back Days. PittPharmacy would like to extend our thanks to the DEA for disposing of the drugs properly, the Pitt Police for their assistance with transportation and safety, the Division of Student Affairs, and University Pharmacist Dr. Patrick Pugliese. "Congratulations to all!! We have​ been talking about this in community and neighborhood meetings leading up to today, and the reaction has been excellent, with great appreciation for this effort. We'll also work with City of Pittsburgh Police next year to include our site as a drop off location in their promotion," said Director of Community Relations at the University of Pittsburgh, Kannu Sahni.
