Donna Huryn, PhD, and Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, was chosen as the winner of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Association for Women in Science (AWIS-PHL) Lifetime Achievement Award for 2021. The award is given to “…a distinguished scientist who has significantly influenced the advancement of women in science and who serves as a role model for all.” Donna was chosen for “excellence in research, teaching, and promoting the entry and advancement of women in science.” She will give a presentation to AWIS-PHL members about her career and scientific journey this month.
Huryn is Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and a PI of the University of Pittsburgh Chemical Diversity Center (UP-CDC). She also holds an Adjunct Professor appointment at the University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Chemistry. She received her B.A. from Cornell University, and Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry from Penn.
