Associate Dean for Community Partnerships Melissa A. Somma McGivney, PharmD, FCCP, FAPhA has been appointed by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) to the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Community-based Practice Transformation Initiative (CPTI). This initiative will develop a National Action Plan for Community-based Practice Transformation to identify and prioritize key strategic objectives and will result in the development of specific tools and resources to elevate the perception of the role and value of community-based pharmacy practice throughout 2018.
McGivney has also been selected to participate in the inaugural ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) Academic Leaders Network (ALN) program during 2018-2019. This is the inaugural year for a collaborative leadership program. It is designed to support leader development and hone managerial skills for faculty with some academic leadership experience and leadership aspirations. The ALN will include sessions at Virginia Tech (September 20-22, 2018), Georgia Tech (February 7-9, 2019), and Notre Dame (May 28-30, 2019).
