The Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association (PPA) recently installed 3 PittPharmacy Alumni as new board members during PPA’s 2018 Annual Conference held in October at Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Patrick Lavella, RPh, (photo left) was installed as the Associate Director. Lavella graduated with his degree in pharmacy in 1985 from the University Of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. He is currently the Manager of Strategic Pharmacy Initiatives for Value Drug Company. Over the course of 20 years, Lavella has owned and operated four independent pharmacies before getting involved in the wholesale distribution industry seven years ago. Lavella has been an asset to PPA by helping on various committees and projects including the formation of the PA Guidelines for Opioid Dispensing, the Independent Owners Forum and Advocacy Committee. Lavella will serve a two year term.
(PPA) selected Christopher Antypas, PharmD, (photo center) as the Community Independent Director. Antypas graduated with his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2009 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. He is currently the President and Chief Operating Officer for Asti’s South Hills Pharmacy. Antypas serves on PPA’s Independent Owners Advisory Committee and as an active luminary with the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Care Network. He also serves on the Parrish Council of St. George of Bridgeville Church located in Allegheny County. Antypas will serve a one year term.
Deron Shultz, RPh, (photo right) was installed as the Central Region Director. Shultz graduated with a pharmacy degree in 1999 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. He is currently the Vice President and Community Pharmacy Director of Minnich’s Pharmacy located in York County. Shultz is an active member of PPA’s Independent Owners Committee and Advocacy Committee. Shultz will serve a two year term.
