Pitt Pharmacy professor Jan Pringle, PhD, and the University of Pittsburgh’s Program Evaluation and Research Unit (PERU) worked with Dr. Ronald Poropatich of the Center for Military Medicine Research and Dr. William R. Wagner of the McGowan Institute of Regenerative Medicine to submit two full Omnibus IV proposals to the Department of Defense last month.
These collaborative proposals covered two of the four Market Segments: Research & Development (1) and Translational Science (4), and have the potential for $10 billion in future Department of Defense-sponsored work. PERU led in the development of the Translational Science segment.
Within one week of submitting the proposals, the Department of Defense notified Pitt that both segments were approved. PERU will be assisting in the management of Pitt’s responses with respect to bidding for and responding to successfully secured projects that fall within the Translational Science area.
