PittPharmacy Hosts 6th Annual AAPS Symposium

The Annual Pittsburgh AAPS Student Research Symposium was held at the  O'Hara Student Center on October 17, 2014 co-hosted by PITT's AAPS Student Chapter and Duquesne University's AAPS Student Chapter. The symposium provided a platform for academic exchange of cutting-edge research, regional exchange of ideas, professional networking and career development for graduate students, post-doctorate researchers, and graduate faculty.    Marilyn E. Morris, PhD, AAPS president, and PittPharmacy Alumna Karen Habucky, PhD, Executive Director, Drug Regulatory Affairs, Novartis Pharmaceuticals were the keynote speakers at the event.     

 Congratulations to Firuz Feturi for winning second place in the poster presentations. Firuz presented two posters titled:  Permeability Studies of Immunosuppressive Drugs for Topical Delivery: Formulation and In Vitro/ In Vivo Characterization. and  Strategies to sustain Vascularized Composite Allograft survival and reduce the need for daily intake of systemic immunosuppression. Feturi is graduate student in the pharmaceutics track at the School of Pharmacy. Raman Venkataramanan, PhD is her primary advisor.
