Alexander J. Prokopienko PharmD, was selected to receive an American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) Research Institute Frontiers Grant for his project titled “Targeted Inhibition of FMO Mediated Formation of TMAO in Kidney Disease: A Pilot Study”. The objective of the ACCP Research Institute Frontiers Fund is to support clinical pharmacy researcher development. The project will be conducted under the mentorship of his primary advisor Associate Professor Thomas D. Nolin, PharmD, PhD, FCCP. The long-term goal of this research is to evaluate novel strategies to reduce cardiovascular disease in patients.
Prokopienko was also awarded a NIH Institutional National Research Service Award. This Clinical and Translational Science Postdoctoral Fellowship (TL1) is funded by the University Of Pittsburgh’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI).
Prokopienko is a 2016 graduate of the CTSI Master’s Level Clinical Research Certificate and a third year PittPharmacy graduate student in the Clinical Pharmaceutical Sciences track. His clinical and translational research focuses on improving the health of patients with kidney disease.
