Five PharmD students attended the American Pharmacists Association - Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) Midyear Regional Meeting (MRM) in Arlington, VA to represent the School of Pharmacy and APhA-ASP student chapter.
At the event, students participated in educational programs, the student policy process, networking, and more. The School of Pharmacy's APhA-ASP chapter won the Regional Operation Heart Award and the Regional Operation Immunization Award. These awards are chosen from 20 different schools of pharmacy in the region. They are given for a successful year of student-planned patient care events in the community and educational programs to further education on these disease states.

During the 2021-2022 school year, Operation Heart planned over 10 educational events, and there were numerous education events planned by Operation Immunization, in addition to participation at the University of Pittsburgh vaccine clinics.
In addition to the awards, APhA-ASP President, Samantha Freiter, represented Pitt Pharmacy as the Chapter Delegate and voted on important policy changes regarding emergency contraception, Narcan use, prescription labeling, and more.

Hailey Roup, a third-year pharmacy student, ran for the position of Midyear Regional Meeting Coordinator and was unanimously elected to serve. She will represent the School of Pharmacy in the national APhA policy process, and she will plan MRM in 2023!
