Associate Professor Susan Skledar, and an interdisciplinary health care team at UPMC, were awarded the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Best Practices Award in Health-System Pharmacy in December 2011 for their work in promoting intravenous (IV) medication safety and adverse event prevention via implementation of “smart” IV infusion pumps across UPMC inpatient facilities and outpatient cancer centers. This manuscript describes the medication safety analysis and impact of this effort.
Their work has been published in the American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy April 2013 issue.
