Dr. Coley conducts patient-centered research that focuses on the role of the community pharmacist in improving medication adherence and patient outcomes. She is particularly interested in the changing roles of community pharmacists in the current health care environment and the impact of pharmacist-provided direct patient care. She has recently received funding for the evaluation of innovative community pharmacist interventions to improve adult vaccination rates; and for the development of a community pharmacist practice-based research network in Pennsylvania.
Dr. Coley's teaching focuses on mentoring students, residents, and fellows on practice-based research. She teaches research skills as part of the Community Leadership and Innovation in Practice area of concentration. Dr. Coley also teaches medication adherence and clinical assessment tools for community pharmacists.
Dr. Coley is a Professor of Pharmacy and Therapeutics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from the University of Pittsburgh in 1987 and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science in 1989. She returned to the University of Pittsburgh in 1990 after completing a specialized residency in drug information at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
