Little did I know when I came to Pitt in 2013 as an undergraduate student that it would be the start of a lifelong journey of being connected with Pitt. In fact, Pitt would become an important part of my life and it would stay that way well beyond graduation. My career journey starting with being a student at Pitt and through now being a faculty member with Pitt Pharmacy has been marked by many alumni of the School along the way. It was alumni who gathered through the Cincinnati-Columbus-Dayton Pitt Club that sent me off as a freshman and made me feel supported as I began my time at Pitt. It was alumni of Pitt Pharmacy who fostered my interest in the profession through Dinner with 12 Panthers events with Pitt’s Student Alumni Association. It was even an alumna who recommended I try the restaurant Christos downtown back in 2014, which ever since has been one of my and my husband’s favorite places to eat in the city.
I owe a lot to the alumni of the University who influenced my course through my Pitt undergraduate training, graduate training, post-graduate training, and now career as a faculty member. I hope to give back through serving on the Pitt Pharmacy Alumni Society Board and through supporting other alumni in their own journeys to stay connected to the University and give back in whatever ways they choose. We all have Pitt in common, and we all have Pitt Pharmacy to thank for its part in our own personal paths and successes.
As a Pitt Pharmacy graduate, I hope you will become engaged in the exciting work of the School of Pharmacy, encompassing excellent education, groundbreaking research, and meaningful service to our patients and the profession of pharmacy. As alumni, let’s unite to give back to Pitt Pharmacy, which helped to set us on our professional paths, supporting our efforts to serve as medication experts, improving the health, well-being and quality of life for individuals and communities across the world. Just think how your involvement could help the next generation of students become successful pharmacists of the future.
A few ways to get involved are:
- Donate
- Nominate yourself or a peer to the Alumni Society Board
- Volunteer to mentor students through Career Roundtables, student organizations, professional portfolio reviews and more
We would love to work with you and hear your ideas, input, and creativity for supporting the next generation of pharmacists and our world-class alma mater, Pitt Pharmacy.
