About PIER
The Pharmacy Innovation Lab at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, led by Ravi Patel, focuses on creating solutions that are both new and useful across healthcare. The lab operates in three core areas: curriculum, projects, and partnerships. We explore innovative ideas in technology to improve patient and clinician experiences. We collaborate with companies, startups, and stakeholders to explore new ideas. Past projects include improving wait time experiences in pharmacies, creating a user-centered experience with medication information through a partnership with a health tech start-up, and researching health technologies such as continuous glucose monitors, augmented reality, and smart speakers. The lab engages learners, clinicians, and interested stakeholders in topics like innovation, data science, and entrepreneurship. Events such as our Pitt Challenge Hackathon bring together clinical and technological expertise. Our goal is to reimagine healthcare by fostering an ecosystem of innovation that improves experiences and outcomes for all stakeholders.
